Cadiz

Cadiz is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in southwestern Spain. It was founded by the Phoenicians in 1100 BC, but legend has it that the city is due to Hercules.

Here is the largest cathedral in Spain, its dome is covered with golden yellow tiles. It’s worth going up to the bell tower where ramps and no stairs lead because the view is fantastic.

It is worth walking along the beach to Genovés Park, where a playground, benches and shady trees provide relaxation for tourists tired of the Andalusian heat. There will also be a fortress on the way that we could not enter when we got there. After the fortress we arrive at Cadiz’s most popular beach, the Caleta coast.

Cadiz’s biggest celebration is the carnival. On the first Saturday of a two-week party, everyone gets dressed and marched around town.

If you want to eat good, avoid busy tourist attractions. We ate a menu in San Juan de Dios Square that was very far from good.
